Fugro
Pelagos' expertise in coastal zone mapping extends
from project consultation to full project management,
including data acquisition, data analysis and interpretation,
as well as data integration. Their research and development
efforts have resulted in pioneering advances in multibeam
echosounder acoustic backscatter technology.
The company's pioneering development
work in the area of multibeam backscatter acquisition
and processing results in perfectly registered bathymetric
and seabed imagery datasets, which provides superior
data integration and visualization. Further, survey
productivity is greatly improved as acquisition speeds
and weather windows increase. Fugro Pelagos can combine
ship-based acoustic technologies with airborne Lidar
and camera technologies to provide comprehensive coverage
in the coastal zone, including the beach areas themselves.
They can operate their marine Lidar bathymeter in
both bathymetric and topographic modes, and can also
acquire digital airborne imagery. The sensor is completely
portable and can be operated on a customer's aircraft
or an aircraft of opportunity. This sensor simultaneously
acquires precise 100%-coverage bathymetry.
Fugro Pelagos is also able to combine
these acoustic datasets with data from marine Lidar,
topographic Lidar, multispectral imaging and digital
photography to produce comprehensive maps from the
coastal zone to any depth required. The integrated
datasets can be delivered in GIS formats and web-served
for rapid and wide geographic accessibility.
